Crestala's Groombridge Closeboard Entrance Gates are manufactured on-site in our own workshop by our skilled Gatemakers. The Groombridge style closeboard entrance gates are made to be robust yet offer excellent value for money. The timber we use is pressure-treated, joinery-grade, slow-growing Scandinavian redwood. The treatment provides good protection against rot and also insect attacks.

All Groombridge Closeboard Gates are made to order and standard sizing is priced. We can make special widths and heights too. Please see the Made to Measure Sizes section below.

All Groombridge gates are made to satisfy customer orders. We can also make Groombridge gates in bespoke sizes.

The maximum width for a pair is 3.6m.
The minimum width for a pair is 1.5m.
The Maximum height to the highest point is 2.1m.

Groombridge gates are heavy and need to be supported by good solid posts or brick piers. If you have existing posts, please check them for security before fitting your new gates.

Gate fittings for all the different sizes of Groombridge gates are available. We recommend using an adjustable hinge set for Groombridge gates. If you are unsure which type or size of hinge you need for your gates, please ask one of our team members, who will advise you.

All Groombridge gates supplied by Crestala need to be stored, treated and cared for properly before and after hanging. Please read the recommendations on our "Crestala Gate Care Information" sheet for more detailed instructions,

All external timbers expand and contract during the normal weathering process and treated timber even more so. As a result of this natural process, treated softwood gates will be susceptible to movement and shaking (cracks in the timber).
