Rope Balustrade and Fittings

Rope balustrade and brass fittings are a simple way to mark the edge of a low-level deck or walkway edge. The number of ropes used is usually one, two or three, but you can have as many as you wish.

This style of balustrade is only suitable for lower-level decks. (Less than 300mm above ground level). The rope is attached to the newels with brass fittings or by drilling holes through the newels and putting a stop knot in the rope.

Installation Tips

Before cutting the rope to size, tape both sides of the cut (about 25mm) tightly with duck tape. The tape stops the end from unravelling and makes pushing through holes or into the brass end fittings easier.
Recommended Aftercare

To keep the rope in good condition and reduce the risk of green algae on the rope, we recommend treating the rope twice a year with clear water-repellent liquid. Any algae or mould that does grow can be removed with mould and mildew cleaner.
