Concrete Fencing Materials & Information.

Although not as nice to look at, with a life expectancy exceeding 25 years, concrete fencing materials are
are a viable alternative to traditional wooden materials.
We stock a range of concrete posts, gravel boards, repair spurs & decking support posts.

Concrete posts are normally dug into the ground & the post secured with either a drymix ballast & cement (about 7 to 1 mix with no extra water added) rammed up around the post or postmix ( follow directions on the bag).  The amount of each that will be required will depend on the size & depth of the hole. Try to keep the hole diameter fairly tight around the post, 200 to 250mm (8" to 10") is good.  Generally, for any fence height, the hole should be a minimum of 600mm (2') deep.  For fence heights over 1.5m we recommend that the hole depth is increased to a minimum of 750mm (2' 6").

  • Width / Depth: Inters -105mm x 90mm.  Corners - 130mm x 123mm.

  • If the fence line is on a slope, you need to allow longer posts so that the panels can step down the slope.

Information

This is a text-based metric/imperial converter which means it has some limitations in the format in which it expects the data.

Things like 1' 6", 12ins or 2.3m are fine but don't mix imperial and metric formatting, for example 1.5ins (for an inch and a half) won't work, you can use 1 1/2 ins however.

The units that are recognised are as follows:

  • Imperial units
    • yd, yds, yard, yards
    • ', ft, foot, feet
    • ", in, ins, inch, inches
  • Metric units
    • m, metres
    • cm, cms, centimetres
    • mm, mms, millimetres
